New things

Cash at 20 months---Spoon feeding himself, playing on his own for a good 20 minutes (blocks or trains mainly), becoming interested in cartoons for a few minutes (Diego, Thomas, Sesame Street), learning new words everyday (Mainly from Jack), and repeats anything you say, can put on his own slip on shoes, will ask for a diaper change, or tell me when he's going, also asks to sit on the potty (just for fun), asks to take a nap or go to bed at night (enjoying this while it lasts), becomes attached to one thing (which varies between his sippy, football, stuffed animal, train, etc) before bedtime, says bye-bye or waves without prompt to random strangers, likes to line things up and call it a "choo-choo", prefers to wear clothes that have what he loves on them (footballs, dinos, robots, trains), if I'm making popcorn, he'll dig through the cupboards and find the "popcorn" bowls, he insists on throwing Wiley his treats, likes to dump every toy basket out, then only sorta likes to put them back in, if I give him a snack he asks for another one to give to "Dack" (Jack).

Jack at 4 2/3 years---Loves school, and has so far had great reports from his teachers, is becoming an awesome in-the-line color-er, learning letter sounds, writing is becoming much clearer, loves to draw, eats almost anything (including sprouts, tofu, and smoked oysters), loves to bug his brother, but loves to help and take care of him even more, has the funniest sayings, likes to argue with me ("but Mooommm"), great at cleaning up his toys, eats one thing at a time off his plate, sleeps with a giant talking Micky Mouse (used to be John's as a kid), Scout the dog, a Twilight turtle that illuminates stars, a snake that Grandma Carol got him at the zoo, and a dozen or so stuffed animals. If we tell him not to do something his response is: "I was just testing something," which we hear a lot. We also hear "what can I do?" and "what's for snack-mack?" all day long.
